Legislative Updates

The KPMA works to develop and maintain relationships with legislators and regulators so we have a seat at the table. Is there legislation of concern? We advocate for our industry. What do you need to know from regulators? We can ask. We work and interact with branches of government at many levels to provide helpful information in development of guidelines and policies for a healthy industry.

With the help and support of the KPMA Board, Executive Committee and the Government Affairs Committee, KPMA strives to monitor all items of legislation that could have a potential impact to our industry. When a legislative session is underway, the KPMA provides members access to live bill tracking and the latest information flowing through Frankfort. With the help of the Commonwealth Advocate LLC, KPMA produces electronic updates to keep members informed.

As a member of the KPMA, you also have access to a legislative dashboard that provides KPMA’s position on important bills related to the industry, as well as other pertinent information to keep members informed.

Meet With KY Legislators

During the year, the KPMA offers members a chance to meet with state policy makers at various events. Being part of the KPMA and attending these events allow you to have direct dialogue with those in Frankfort and help KPMA advocate for our industry.

Attend EMA Day on the Hill

As a member of the KPMA, you are automatically a member of the Energy Marketers of America. Each year, EMA hosts their Day on the Hill in DC, which allows us to meet with KY’s elected officials such as Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. Andy Barr and others. As a member of KPMA, you can attend this event with the leaders of KPMA. This event is critical for our industry as we share our needs and what impacts legislation can have on the industry.
